Exit of the Romanesque in La Baronia de Rialb

Don't miss this year's Romanesque Exit in October in the Barony of Rialb!

The Romanesque Route offers a day filled with history, heritage, and nature in the heart of La Noguera. The activity includes a guided tour of four local Romanesque gems: Santa Maria de la Serra, Sant Serni de Bellfort, Santa Maria de Palau, and Sant Girvés de la Torra, all exceptional examples of the medieval art that characterizes this region.

The activity will begin at 10:30 a.m., meeting at the Monastery of Santa María de Gualter, where a brief introduction to the Romanesque architecture of the Barony of Rialb and details of the route will be provided. Then, at 10:00 a.m., the tour will begin along the Tremp road to the center of Serra, where the first stop will be to visit the Church of Santa Maria de la Serra and discover its architectural and historical charms.

At 11:00 a.m., the group will continue to Sant Serni de Bellfort, another of the best-preserved Romanesque churches in the area. An hour later, at 12:00 p.m., it will be the turn of Santa María de Palau, with its impressive structure and Lombard decoration. Finally, around 1:00 p.m., the participants will arrive at Sant Girvés de la Torra, at the top of a small hill, where the route will conclude.

The activity costs 10 euros and requires prior registration by emailing turisme@baroniarialb.cat or calling 973 46 02 34. Travel will be by private vehicle, and the visit will be guided by J. Bibbó, from the Barony of Rialb Tourist Office.

The route is a magnificent opportunity to discover the Romanesque heritage of the Barony of Rialb, enjoying a privileged natural setting and a unique cultural experience that combines landscape, history, and spirituality.
