Gardeny Castle is a monumental complex located on Gardeny Hill, one of the two hills in the city of Lleida, built during the second half of the 12th century by the Knights Templar.

Gardeny Hill, thanks to its height above the rest of the territory, facilitated military operations and has historically become a very important strategic point. In Roman times it was already used by Julius Caesar himself in 49 BC, during the civil war between Julius Caesar and Gneu Pompeu Magno.

The Gardeny monumental complex constitutes one of the most outstanding testimonies of Templar architecture erected in Catalonia during the second half of the 12th century.
