Greater Celebration of the Castle of Cardona

Cardona celebrates the Festival of the Castle, festival of San Ramón Nonato, historical figure linked to the castle and the noble nobility of the Cardona.

Throughout the day open doors to the collegiate church of San Vicente. At 11.00 Mass in the collegiate church of San Vicente and in the afternoon concert and audition of sardanas

It is a party with its own personality, very felt by those of Cardona, because the devotion to San Ramon comes from far everything. 1683, Duchess Catherine of Aragon Folc de Cardona had built at the entrance of the Castle, in the place where San Ramon would have been killed, a chapel in her honor.

With this gesture, Catherine of Aragon wanted to worship the saint, the devotion for which he had begun 4 centuries ago, just at the time of his death in 1240.

Another important element of the celebration is the presence of the blunderbusses of San Ramón de Cardona, who adorn and give a special shine to the celebration, expressing Cardon feeling also welcoming the patronage of San Ramón.
