TIU concert in l'Argentera

L'Argentera joins the "Les Perles de l'Accents" concert series, with a performance by Mallorcan singer-songwriter TIU, the stage name of Beatriu Herrero, at 12:30 p.m.

"Les Perles de l'Accents" is an initiative of Empuje Cultural under the artistic direction of Isaac Albesa, with the support of the Tarragona Provincial Council, the ICEC of the Generalitat, the INAEM and the city councils of Reus, Cambrils, Argentera and Mont-roig del Camp.

Who is TIU?

After twelve years without releasing an album, TIU returns with a new musical proposal: Assaig Obert (RGB Supports). Her previous work, Pink Poma (Blau, 2013), is already more than a decade old. Previously, she had published Musicogastronomia (Blau, 2007) and Sopeta de Brou (Blau, 2009), works full of culinary references and Mallorcan landscapes, very characteristic elements of her work. It's no coincidence: TIU is the daughter of Miquela Lladó, one of the pioneers of singer-songwriter music in Mallorca.

This long recording hiatus was the result of a period devoted to motherhood and other personal endeavors. Now, TIU returns with Assaig Obert, their fourth album, which was presented on March 9, 2024, at the Teatro de Lloseta (near Inca), once again thrilling their loyal audience.

“It's essential to know where things are done, not just to do them,” says TIU.

Now, she offers us an authentic sound experience with Assaig Obert, an album that sings of love, anger, joy, and tenderness. Twelve intimate and sincere tracks, where the landscapes and flavors of Mallorca are still present. Accompanied by Jordi Tugores and Pere Dàvila, two exceptional musicians who collaborated on the production, TIU offers a close, emotional, and honest offering.

Each of the twelve songs represents a year of creative silence. “They are twelve musical scenes that explain experiences, memories, or even imaginary experiences from the deepest emotions,” explains the artist. “A set of pieces that invoke tenderness without falling into sentimentality.”

“New beginnings, allowing ourselves to sing naturally and having a coffee after lunch.” That's how TIU defines this new work, which began with the single "Ametllers," a song she describes as "a declaration of intent." In it, she bares the emotions bottled up for years, with sensitivity and sincerity. “In Mallorca, there's a legend that almond trees were planted for love, because it was said the only thing the island was missing was snow.”

TIU's music also conveys a powerful message of female affirmation and empowerment, which she aims to share with the public through her meaningful lyrics.
