The double border: Portbou and Walter Benjamin
Portbou, a border town that was the exit route for many Republicans at the end of the Civil War, and a few months later it was also one of the main entry routes for many Jewish European citizens and anti-fascist resisters fleeing the Nazi horror. We will visit the cemetery and the monument “Passatges” of Dani Karavan, dedicated to the memory of the German philosopher of Jewish descent Walter Benjamin.
Meeting place: in front of the tourist office, Portbou.
