Fish stew in Roses
The port of Roses has a long fishing tradition and is the main fishing port on the Costa Brava, supplying fresh fish, shellfish, and mollusks daily, essential elements of its famous gastronomic offering. Guided tours of the port and fish market are available throughout the year, except during closed seasons, usually on Fridays.
At the end of October, a new edition of the Suquet de Peix gastronomic days is held. This is the most emblematic and traditional dish of Roses, although it allows for many different interpretations, reflected in the succulent menus offered by the participating restaurants.
When autumn invites us to eat hot dishes, many restaurants offer fixed-price menus, each with its own version of suquet. Meals that, in and of themselves, justify traveling to Roses to enjoy a memorable day with family or friends.
