2 routes to climb castles

2 routes to climb castles

If you need milestones to go for a walk, we suggest 2 routes to a castle. A magnificent incentive for young and old that will allow you to contemplate the path traveled and its landscape. Al Anoia, land of castles, a circular route to the very well preserved Castle of Claramunt that you can visit. And in the Bages, the Salt Route begins from the Castle of Cardona, the protagonist of our history and that you can not only visit, but also stay there.

1. From Vilanova del Camino to the Collbàs hermitage and Claramunt castle

Circular route from Vilanova del Camino to the hermitage of Collbàs with a mandatory stop at the Castle of Claramunt, a medieval watchtower over the Anoia region that preserves an impressive fortress appearance and can be visited. In 2009, Claramunt Castle received the Catalunya Nuestra award in the category of "public castles", which rewards the best proposals for restoration and revitalization of the country's castles. In fact, it is in this place that festivals as popular as the Aplec del Castillo, in May, or the Anoia Folk music festival, in July, are held.

When you climb the Sierra de Collbàs, you will also come across the hermitage of the Virgen de Collbàs dating from the 13th century. In total, it is about 4 and a half hours that you can also do by bike.

2. From Cardona to Súria

The first section of this Salt Route that starts in Cardona, in its castle and tourist parador, and that in just over 4 hours will take you to Súria. Cardona Castle is an imposing fortified complex documented as early as the 8th century that can be visited. During the visit, the church of San Vicente stands out, a capital work of Catalan architecture of the time, and the Minyona tower, which is still standing. Right there, there are also other adjacent dependencies that, among others, house the Cardona parador de turismo.

During the route that we propose, you will also pass through the necropolis of Viña de la Guitarra, that of Can Cuernos, the industrial colony of Palà de Torroella as well as incredible places such as the Castelltallat mountain range. If you want to complete the day, in Cardona you can also visit the Salt Mountain Cultural Park that allows you to walk up to 500 meters from the galleries of some old salt mines.
