The Meeting in Manresana in Els Prats de Rei

The Meeting in La Manresana in Els Prats de Rei is back for another year!

The celebration of this meeting took place for the first time on June 7, 1976, coinciding with the Second Easter holiday. Originally, it was a meeting of candy makers in Manresana, but over time it has become a festival for the entire town, where the community takes the opportunity to enjoy a day in the countryside, reuniting with family and friends, including those with ties to the town, both family members and former residents.

The meeting traditionally begins with an open-air mass in front of the tower, with an altar specially set up for the occasion, and with the participation of the Coral Mare de Déu del Portal.

After the mass, bread is distributed among all attendees. Next, cucaña games are played, both for the little ones and for adults, organized by the youth of the town.

In the beginning, various contests were organized, such as quotes, photography, or paella preparation, during free time before the meal. Precisely, one of these contests, the paella contest in 1980, was the precursor of the great paella that is currently cooked and distributed among the 200 to 300 attendees at the meeting. Although the intention is to always celebrate it in Manresana, sometimes, due to rain, it has been moved under the arcades of the Plaza Mayor.
