National Day of Catalonia in Súria

Súria celebrates Catalonia's National Day with the traditional flag-raising ceremony at La Torre.

The Diada of September 11, in commemoration of the end of the War of the Spanish Succession in 1714, is declared a National Day of Catalonia. Various institutional events and demonstrations are held on this day, and it is also a public holiday throughout Catalonia.

The Plaza Mayor in Poble Vell will host a performance by the Colombian group CreaDanza, an artistic company that combines dance and live music to convey the essence of their country's popular traditions. The show, free and open to all, invites you to experience collective emotion through culture and contemporary events.

On September 11, the day will begin early with sports activities. At 8:00 a.m., there will be a mountain bike ride and runners' start, and at 9:00 a.m., the hike to the Tower will begin, meeting at Plaça de Sant Joan.

The most solemn moment will come at 9:30 a.m. with the raising of the Catalan flag on Torre Hill, accompanied by the reading of the manifesto and the singing of Els Segadors (The Reapers). The event will feature local singers, the Trabucaires del Tro Gros (The Tro Gros Trabucaires), a human pillar raising, and stick and bell dancing. Afterward, all attendees will enjoy a communal breakfast.

In addition, the exhibition "First Republic, 150 Years Later" will be open to visitors, produced by the Barcelona Provincial Council, and open from September 4 to October 3 in the Cal Balaguer del Porxo hall.
