Fireworks of Sant Isidre in Prats de Lluçanès
The Fireworks of Sant Isidre is the name by which the events that take place in this town are known in Prats de Lluçanès on the night of May 14, the eve of the saint's feast day.
The celebration that is characterized by the lighting of small bonfires with old utensils and all kinds of junk collected from the different neighborhoods and farmhouses; dinner among the neighbors of each neighborhood of the town and the launching of firecrackers during the night of festival.
The lighting of bonfires on the eve of Sant Isidre is a ritual to ward off evil spirits that can threaten the crops, at a time when the fields are beginning to grow and the shoots of the winter crops are weaker. In this way, Sant Isidre, patron saint of the Catalan peasantry, is invoked to protect the fields and orchards.
