Cal Fargas Rural Tourism is a charming country house located in the heart of the Merlès Valley, in Santa Maria de Merlès. The accommodation offers an authentic rural experience, combining the peace of the natural surroundings with all modern comforts.

Charming accommodation in the heart of nature

Cal Fargas

The main farmhouse, Cal Fargas, dates back to the 18th century and was completely renovated in 2024 to meet the needs of today's guests.

After its transformation into a rural tourism accommodation, it can now host up to 12 people, with a total of six double rooms distributed over two floors. On the ground floor, there are three bedrooms with two shared bathrooms, and on the upper floor, three more bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom.

Cal Fargas also preserves traditional architectural features typical of old Catalan farmhouses, such as stone walls, wooden beams, and window seats. If you look closely, you can even see an old inscription above one of the doors, marking the year the house was originally built.

Cal Onclet

Right next to Cal Fargas, but with no internal connection to the main house, you'll find Cal Onclet — a smaller cottage with capacity for up to four guests. Although it has two floors, it offers a cosy and intimate space, perfect for couples or small groups seeking peace and quiet.

At the entrance, after climbing a few steps, there's a small terrace leading to the first floor, where you'll find an open-plan kitchen and dining area, a toilet, and a small pantry. The second floor has two double bedrooms and another toilet between them. A charming detail of the house is the old bread oven opening, still visible today — a reminder of the times when bread was baked at home, as was common in many Catalan farmhouses.

The Large Barn

On the ground floor of the Large Barn at Cal Fargas, you'll find a spacious games room designed for both children and adults to enjoy. It's equipped with a pool table and a foosball table — perfect for moments of laughter and friendly competition. There's also a toilet and a small fridge for extra convenience.

Upstairs, there's a large, versatile space ideal for meetings, group activities, or small celebrations. This room is equipped with tables, chairs, and a sink, making it functional for a variety of uses.

The Small Barn

The Small Barn is a single-storey space designed to offer a warm and comfortable atmosphere all year round. Furnished with a table, chairs, and sofas, it's the perfect place to relax or enjoy quality time with family and friends.

One of its main highlights is the fireplace, which, combined with a small sink area, makes it both practical and charming.

Outdoor activities and experiences

The surroundings of Cal Fargas are a true paradise for those who want to reconnect with nature, explore local heritage, or simply unwind. From the house itself, you can start various hiking and cycling routes through the beautiful Merlès Valley, surrounded by forests, meadows, and stunning scenery.

Among the most popular attractions are the Medieval Bridge of Sant Martí de Merlès and the Castle of Merlès — both rich in history. And for those looking for a touch of magic, there are themed routes inspired by local legends, such as the story of the Witch Napa, guiding you through the most mysterious corners of the valley.
