Ponts
The town of Pons, officially and in Catalan Ponts, is a Spanish municipality and town in the province of Lleida located in the Catalan region of La Noguera. It is located in the subregion of Segre Medio. In medieval documents it appears documented with the plural ablative form Pontibus. In the decade of 1960 the municipal term grew when being gotten up to Tosal.
Important strategic point throughout its history. Inhabited by Iberians, Romans, Vasses and Saracens until 982, when it already appears among the assets of the Frankish king Lothair. However, it is not until the 11th century that certain news about the castle and its term begins to be known. It acquired importance during the county of Urgell, with the lineage of the Ponts, until the collapse of the barony of Ponts carried out by Ferran de Antequera in 1416. In the modern age in the town there was immigration of Gascons and in the 17th century created the marquisate.
