The water route in Montgai
Montgai is a town in the municipality of La Noguera located in the Bajo Sió area, bordering the Bellmunt-Almenara mountain ranges to the south and Montclar to the north. The municipality of Montgai also includes the population of Butsènit, together with which it has about 700 inhabitants.
We propose a route to discover the municipality through Secla the channel that supplies water the areas of Balaguer, Camarasa, Cubells, Foradada, Montgai, La Sentiu de Sió and Preixens.
The water route is a circular itinerary that contemplates the Secla route and the Sió de Montgai river promenade, where you can find leisure and relaxation areas ideal to enjoy with the whole family.
The construction of the Secla dates from the middle of the 19th century, as does the main channel of the Urgell Canal. With a length of 29.27 km, it allows to irrigate the areas of Balaguer, Camarasa, Cubells, Foradada, Montgai, La Sentiu de Sió and Preixens (a total of 3,287.28 hectares).
With a length of 2.7 kilometers, the route runs along the side of the river Sió and the municipality of Montgai, and allows to know the flora and fauna linked to the river.
Along this route we will also find the river park and the multi-sports area, both ideal for exercising.
