Outdoor science, observing the invisible universe in Saldes
When we look at the sky we see a lot of stars and, if we use telescopes, galaxies. In short, we can see everything that emits light, and that is close enough to be able to detect it.
But the Universe is much more than that: the Universe contains planets, asteroids, nebulae, and even a network of intergalactic gas that we cannot detect using conventional techniques.
You will review the various techniques that have been developed to make this invisible universe visible and you will address leading questions (currently unanswered) related to this topic.
A couple of examples to go mouth-watering: Is there extraterrestrial life? Is there really dark matter and energy? Or are we missing something?
The speaker is Dr. Ignasi Perez. Astrophysicist, researcher (Marie Skolodowksa-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship) at the Institute for High Energy Physics.
