Aplec of the Sardana in Caldes de Malavella

The Caldes de Malavella Sardanes Group has recorded more than 150 sardanas dedicated to the town, songs that speak of the town's history and its popular culture.

Only 28 have been selected for this year's Aplec, dedicated to paying tribute to Caldes, but the organization is committed to highlighting the entire repertoire associated with the town. The 76th Aplec de Sardanes will take place on the weekend of May 10 and 11, and will feature the participation of social and cultural organizations from the town and nearby municipalities.

Scheduled activities

On Saturday, May 10, the Plaza U de Octubre will host its first event at 9:15 p.m., with a concert by La Principal de Llobregat and Mans Amigues. The following day, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can enjoy music in Sardana Park, with performances by the folk songs Sant Jordi - City of Barcelona, City of Girona, Reus Jove, and Bisbal Jove.

In addition to the sardana dances, there will be performances throughout the weekend by the Giants of Caldes and Hereu Riera. Also present will be lace makers and students from the sardana workshops at Sant Esteve and La Benaula schools.

The Sardanistas Group and the Caldes Ateneo are offering a day to learn how to dance the sardana, guided by the Mans Amigues Sardanista Group. This activity will be divided into two sessions: the first, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on the Casino Terrace; and the second, from 9:15 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., in Plaza Uno de Octubre, during the sardana audition by the Cobla La Principal del Llobregat. Whether it's your first time or you're already familiar with the technique, this workshop is open to everyone and is free of charge.
