2 days - Miravet and the Maestrazgo route from Morella

Day 1 - PLACE OF ORIGIN - MIRAVET - MORELLA

Departure in the morning towards Castellón. Stop en route for breakfast (not included) and continuation of the trip to reach Miravet, a historic town of which there is knowledge of settlements by the Iberians in the 2nd century, later by the Muslims in the 20th century. IX and the Templars in the 12th century and with important events such as the Battle of the Ebro. We will have free time to get to know this beautiful town presided over by its historic castle.

Continuation of the trip to go to the hotel located in Morella. Accommodation and lunch. In the afternoon we will visit Morella, a city surrounded by a great wall and presided over by its castle, the entire city is declared a National Historical Monument: the robust castle more than a thousand meters high, its centuries-old walls, the Basilica of Santa María... We will get to know the most characteristic monuments and their important historical prominence. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 2 - MORELLA – CANTAVIEJA – MIRAMBEL – LA IGLESUELA DEL CID – ORIGIN

Breakfast. Departure to visit Mirambel, a town that has a beautiful historic center declared a Historic-Artistic Site for being “Villa steeped in history, fully preserving the walled enclosure and notable buildings, without altering the image and medieval atmosphere.”

Next we will move to Cantavieja, the nerve center of the Maestrazgo, a border land located on a limestone rock at 1300m altitude that has marked its future and its history. The secrets and wealth of a rich and turbulent past, where Templars, Sanjoanistas, and Carlists among others have left their mark and their memories in the form of buildings, stories, gastronomy, roads and trails. Its medieval layout invites you to walk through corners and admire its panoramic viewpoints.

Next we will visit La Iglesuela del Cid, a town that among its many artistic values stands out for having a set of unique civil architecture, with exceptional examples from the Middle Ages to the 18th century. The streets are full of magnificent examples of forging, shields and ashlar details, without missing the characteristic mosaics made from river stones in the patios of the houses. The exterior silhouette is dominated by the tower of the clouds, the old castle and the baroque tower of the church. Lunch in restaurant. In the afternoon we will return to our place of origin.
