Festival of San Juan in Alcanar
The Alcanar Town Hall and different entities of the municipality have prepared a varied program to celebrate the Verbena de San Juan in Alcanar and Les Cases combining tradition, leisure and music.
The arrival of the Llama del Canigó in the Bassa de Alcanar square will kick off the activities that have been organized, activities such as the typical bonfire on the beach of Les Cases d'Alcanar as well as dancing with an orchestra in the port enclosure or the popular tasting of the traditional coca.
One of the most symbolic elements of the Verbena de San Juan are the bonfires, it is said that jumping over the flames of the bonfires purifies and protects people from evil spirits.
