Guided tours of the complex linked to the Sénia Airfield
The Sénia Military Airfield was built in 1937, during the Spanish Civil War, by the government of the Second Republic. Initially used by the Republican army, it passed into the hands of Franco's troops in April 1938, when they occupied the territory. From then on, the airfield was controlled by the German Condor Legion.
Due to its strategic location, it became one of the most important airfields in Catalonia during the conflict, especially for its participation in key episodes such as the Battle of the Ebro.
The restoration and dissemination activities carried out at the Sénia Airfield heritage site, as well as the guided tours, aim to preserve and transmit the historical memory of a turbulent period, encouraging critical reflection and appealing to collective responsibility, especially among younger generations, to ensure that similar events never happen again.
Within this heritage project, it is worth highlighting the Sénia Historical Aviation Center, a unique museum in the area, which preserves and exhibits aeronautical pieces from the period, considered to be of great historical and technical value.
