Meeting of Escudelles, Ranxos and Historical Soups in Gelida

Gelida celebrates a new meeting of 'Escudelles', 'Ranxos' and historical soups of Catalonia!

The event, organized by the City Council in collaboration with the Santa Llúcia Festival Committee and the Federation of Historic Escudelles, Ranxos and Sopes of Catalonia (FERSHC), will bring together representatives from 15 municipalities from Catalonia, Andorra, Northern Catalonia, and Italy.

This year's event has a special symbolic significance, as it coincides with the twentieth anniversary of the first edition, also held in Gelida in 2005, to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Brotherhood of Santa Llúcia. This double anniversary reinforces the historic and emotional nature of a festival that highlights traditional collective cuisine as a living expression of Catalan cultural heritage.

The program of activities will include a festive afternoon on Saturday, November 22nd, and a performance of Petit Llúciafoc, an adapted version of the fire show that accompanies the Santa Llúcia Festival, performed by the Gelida Devils' Group. A photography exhibition featuring images of the participating groups will also be on display.

The main event will take place on Sunday the 23rd, when cooking groups from different towns will prepare their traditional "Escudelles" and "Ranxos." The public will be able to sample the dishes by purchasing tickets, during an event that combines gastronomy, socializing, and popular tradition.

With this meeting, Gelida becomes, once again, a meeting point for collective culinary memory, where the values of community, identity, and popular culture are simmered over a good shared bowl.
