Transhumance Festival in Llívia
The Festival of Transhumance in Llívia is back for another year!
When the good weather arrives, and the alpine pastures of the Carlit are green, the Llívia cattle go up to spend the summer months there. Ranchers make this trip every year with their cattle to take advantage of the fresh high mountain grass.
Llívia encouraged a festival to be held from this agrarian tradition and every year peasants and tourists accompany the cattle to the top of the Boullouses meadows and a popular meal is made with grilled meat and Llívia coca.
