Descent of Fallas in Vilaller

The Fallas Descent in Vilaller always takes place on June 23 from 10:30 p.m.!

Fallas descent from the mountain is one of the most unique popular festivals in Vilaller. Each participant lights their falla in the lighthouse and begins the journey guided by the eldest bachelor or group leader, with the flaming fallas, which create rivers of fire down the mountain, which end up in the town square. The party ends with dancing and revelry around a large bonfire.

In ancient times it was believed that the evil spirits, who came out at midnight, fled when they saw the fire and the bonfires. These rites were performed by men to give thanks to the gods for the success of the harvests and the arrival of good weather. Today these beliefs are still valid, but festive and playful aspects have also been incorporated, as a meeting point for neighbors and, of course, as a tourist and cultural event.
