Exhibition "Barceló. All som grecs" in La Pedrera
The most complete retrospective of Miquel Barceló's clay work that has been done so far in Barcelona!
The Catalonia La Pedrera Foundation presents the clay work of Miquel Barceló (Felanitx, Mallorca, 1957), one of the most prominent creators of the contemporary artistic scene.
Painter, sculptor and draftsman, he began creating with clay in 1994 after a stay in Mali during which a strong wind prevented him from painting and drawing, as it covered his work with dust. This led him to experiment with this new material, which greatly influenced him and affected central aspects of his work. Thus, Barceló's ceramics are like an extension of his painting.
Organized chronologically, the exhibition at La Pedrera traces a journey through Barceló's artistic career over three decades of work, from the first African works, from 1994, to the most recent production. The exhibition, with more than 100 pieces, is complemented by paintings and notebooks related to ceramics, as well as a bronze sculpture in the courtyard of Paseo de Gracia in La Pedrera.
