The city of Gavà is strategically located in the southern part of the Baix Llobregat region. It is just 20 minutes from Barcelona and 10 minutes from El Prat Airport, making it a well-connected municipality for both visitors and those traveling for work or tourism.

Its geographical position creates a very marked contrast of landscapes: on one side, the Mediterranean coastal strip; on the other, the mountain that forms part of the Garraf Natural Park, a protected area of high landscape and ecological value.

A municipality between the mountains and the sea

Gavà stands out for its dual environment, allowing visitors to enjoy both forest trails and the tranquility of its beaches. The area known as Gavà Mar boasts four kilometers of coastline with dunes, pine trees, and a relaxed atmosphere ideal for walks and outdoor activities.

Within its boundaries, the municipality boasts the Millennium Park, a 10-hectare green space designed for sports, cultural, and leisure activities. A highlight is the monumental sculpture "The Millennium," a gift from La Fura dels Baus that symbolizes the creative and cultural spirit of the municipality.

A heritage with thousands of years of history

Gavà is also a land of great archaeological discoveries. In the 1970s, the Prehistoric Mines of Gavà were unearthed, a unique site consisting of underground galleries used for extracting variscite, a mineral used to make jewelry more than 6,000 years ago. This discovery led to the creation of the Gavà Mines Archaeological Park, a modern and immersive museum that allows visitors to delve into the Neolithic past of the region.

In 1996, the mines were recognized as a cultural asset of national interest, consolidating them as one of the most important archaeological heritages of Catalonia.
