Barbens
One of the main points of interest in this town is its castle, an original building from the 12th century that is very well preserved and is the current seat of the Barbens Town Hall, a municipality known as the land of the island.
The seat of the City Council is the castle of Barbens, a building from the twelfth century, very well preserved after extensive rehabilitation, and which is one of the main points of interest in this city. Although it retains elements from the 12th and 13th centuries, most of the building is from the 16th and, above all, the 18th centuries, in which an important modification was made to the building. On the lintel of the door that leads to the Plaza de la Iglesia, where the entrance to the town hall is located, the magnificent heraldic shield of Commander Manuel de Montoliu stands out.
This town in Pla d'Urgell is known for being the land of the apple, thanks to the cultivation of this fruit, which has a special quality due to the weather and soil conditions. One of the most important events is the celebration every year, in the month of October, of the Apple and Templar Fair (Fair of the Apple and the Templars).
