Meeting of Cardona

september
Cardona

The climb to the castle with scenic paintings will be on September 14 and 15. Among the acts of the XXII Meeting of Cardona is also the theatrical performance on the Cardona resistance during the War of Succession l. (1711-1714) (Text by Jordi Santasusagna and music by Xavier Ventosa).

Cardona was one of the most important places of the Catalan Countries during the War of Succession (1705-1715): war that meant the occupation of Catalonia by the Frankish troops and the disappearance of all Catalan institutions.

His castle was one of the most prominent foci of the Catalan resistance and became the last bulwark of the freedoms of Catalonia, since it did not capitulate until September 18, 1714.

The Aplec de Cardona's main objectives are to commemorate, remember and disseminate the historical events that took place in Cardona during the War of Succession, as well as to reclaim the freedoms lost since then and promote Catalan popular culture
