Pianist Xavier Ricarte will perform at the Conservatory Theatre of Manresa.

Manresa-born pianist Xavier Ricarte returns to the Conservatorio Theatre to present a repertoire marked by the folklore of different countries, from the perspective of the evolution of musical nationalism and focusing on the transformation of its styles.

A CONCERT WITH WORKS BY BEETHOVEN, ALBÉNIZ, GINASTERA, CHOPIN AND RAKHMANINOV

The concert will consist of two parts. In the first, we'll listen to one of Beethoven's sonatas from his third period, when the German composer was already completely deaf. We'll also delve into the essence of flamenco and cante jondo through the music of Catalan composer Isaac Albéniz and travel to Argentina through composer Alberto Ginastera. In the second part, Ricarte will immerse us in the lyricism and harmonic richness of Romanticism through Frédéric Chopin, and conclude with one of the most challenging works in the piano repertoire, Sergei Rahmaninoff's Second Sonata.
