Espai Moja. Catalunya: Patrimoni viu Barcelona
A unique space within the Palau Moja
Located on the ground floor of the majestic Palau Moja, the Espai Moja occupies the former stables of this historic Baroque building with clear French Neoclassical influences. Opened in 1784, the palace is now a cultural landmark in Barcelona.
Today, the Palau Moja is the headquarters of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Government). On its ground floor, the Palau Moja has three spaces open to the public: a promotional space where you can enjoy the exhibition, a tasting area for Catalan gastronomic and wine heritage, and a tourist information center specializing in cultural heritage.
The promotional space currently features an innovative exhibition, " Catalonia: Living Heritage," designed to bring Catalan cultural heritage closer to the general public. Admission is free, and advance reservations are required.
Catalonia: Living Heritage. A journey to the heart of Catalan heritage.
Entitled "Catalonia: Living Heritage," the exhibition offers a journey through time and space to experience cultural heritage in an original and innovative way. The itinerary is organized into four main areas:
- Landscapes: natural and cultural settings that tell stories.
- Creations: artistic and creative expressions of Catalan culture.
- Emotions: feelings and experiences shared over time.
- Voices: stories, witnesses and collective memory.
Immersive technology and personalization
Each visitor receives a compass bracelet with RFID technology that allows them to customize their experience: choose the language, activate an avatar inspired by the Catalan bestiary, and save the tour's highlights.
Through the use of immersive technologies such as virtual reality, holograms, and interactive games, you can experience key moments in history as if you were there. Each micro-story comes to life: unique characters, popular celebrations, iconic monuments, landscapes, and cuisine speak to the past and present.
A unique cultural experience
The Espai Moja is much more than an exhibition: it's a celebration of Catalan culture. From the language to the cuisine, from great figures to anonymous individuals, everything intertwines to show how our heritage is alive, dynamic, and close at hand.
At the end of the visit, you'll receive a personalized summary of the items you've selected during the tour and a special surprise that will encourage you to continue exploring other cultural spaces in Catalonia.
At Espai Moja, technology aligns with emotion, offering you a profound and transformative look at Catalan culture.
🍴 Gil × Espacio Moja: A break with a Catalan flavor
As an ideal complement to the immersive experience at Espai Moja, we invite you to visit the Gil × Espai Moja café and tasting space, a unique setting where history and Catalan gastronomy come together to offer you a break full of flavor and tradition.
Offering high-quality baked goods and pastries, made by a family with four generations of baking tradition, this space offers an authentic gastronomic experience.
In addition, during the most emblematic festivities of the Catalan calendar, such as Santa Eulalia, Sant Jordi, All Saints' Day or Christmas, you will find seasonal products such as panellets, wind and cream fritters, chicharrones cake, Roscón de Reyes, among many other traditional delicacies.
Each tasting is a direct connection to Catalan culture, a sweet and tasty way to close your visit.
