Guimerà
Guimerà's population is located in the river valley Corb, and belongs to the county of Urgell.
It is a medieval town with a stepped construction on a plateau, which has given the popular name of the nine cups, as the view from the river lavilla houses huddled has this likeness.
It is formed by a group of houses, some of them centuries old. You can still see part of the wall that once surrounded the village and remains Guimerà Castle, built in the eleventh century during the reconquista, and retaining the Lookout Tower. Finally, you should also mention the church of Santa María de Guimerà XIV century building of flat shaped cross with a pentagonal apse.
On the outskirts of the town, shortly before reaching Guimerà coming from Tarrega, you can see the ruins of the Monastery of Santa Maria de Vallsanta, a Cistercian monastery of XIII century.
As far as gastronomy is concerned, highlights its wines with designation of origin Costers del Segre and olive oil with appellation of origin Garrigues. Worth trying their sausages and country bread with a good pa amb tomàquet.
