January, the magic of winter traditions
January transforms the region into a magical setting with popular festivals, snow, and activities for all tastes.
The Three Kings' Parade, on January 5th, brings magic to young and old alike across the country. In Barcelona, they're spectacular, but the smaller parades offer an authentic experience. After the Christmas holidays, the Tres Tombs and Sant Antoni Abad Festivals arrive with parades of decorated horses and carriages, along with traditional blessings.
January also highlights winter festivals, such as Sant Sebastià and Sant Vicenç, with traditions, music, and cuisine that connect with Catalan roots. For snow lovers, the ski resorts of the Pyrenees offer mountain adventures.

February, between traditions and celebration
February transforms Catalonia into a place of celebration and tradition.
On February 2, Candlemas lights up several towns with traditional celebrations. In Barcelona, from February 10 to 12, the Festival of Santa Eulalia fills the city with giants, human towers, and correfocs (fireworks). Carnival, from February 8 to 14, brings wildness and color to the streets, while the Gypsy Dances enliven the Vallès region with rhythm and joy.
For food lovers, the Garoinada on the Costa Brava is enjoyed throughout the month, while the calçotadas and xatonadas of Penedès and Garraf invite you to sample the tradition.

March, between parties and nature
March is a month of transition, where winter is still felt but spring is beginning to appear.
Carnival fills the streets with costumes, music, and revelry, with parades and celebrations culminating in Ash Wednesday and the Burial of the Sardine. In Manresa, the Azada Fair transports visitors back to the Middle Ages with markets and historical reenactments.
In Barcelona, on March 3rd, Sant Medir transforms the streets of Gràcia into a shower of candy, a sweet and family-friendly celebration. Later, on March 19th, Saint Joseph adds a gastronomic touch with the traditional Catalan cream, the star of many family meals.
March is also an ideal month to enjoy nature. Hiking trails, greenways for cycling, and the first water activities mark the arrival of good weather. Furthermore, the artichoke becomes the star of gastronomy with festivals and tastings in the Baix Llobregat and Ebro Delta regions.

April, living culture between traditions and books
April is an intense and symbolic month in Catalonia.
Holy Week fills streets and squares with processions, Passion Plays, and the impressive Verges Dance of Death, a jewel of living heritage. The Caramelles celebrate Easter with songs and popular joy.
On April 23rd, Sant Jordi transforms the entire country into a festival of books and roses, with cultural activities everywhere and a unique atmosphere in the streets. Literary trails allow you to discover the most iconic landscapes and authors of our literature.
April 27, the day of the Virgin of Montserrat, patron saint of Catalonia, unites spirituality and nature in a stunning setting.

MAY: Traditions, MUSEUMS and flowers
May, with its pleasant weather and longer days, brings life to the streets and fills the calendar with activities that invite you to experience and feel the essence of the land.
From the Festa Major of Lleida to the celebrations of Sant Ponç and Sant Isidre, not to mention International Museum Day, May is the perfect time to discover the most authentic side of Catalonia. The Festa Major of Sant Anastasi fills Lleida with giants, fire, and music, while the Sant Ponç celebrations connect us with medicinal herbs and ancestral wisdom. On May 15, the feast of Sant Isidre pays tribute to farmers with blessings and rural fairs throughout the region.
On May 18, International Museum Day invites everyone to explore culture with a fresh and festive perspective. And in Girona, Temps de Flors transforms the city into a living work of art, celebrating spring in all its splendour.

June, a month of flowers, fire, and popular festivals
June is a vibrant month that marks the beginning of summer with a burst of traditions, colors, and popular culture throughout Catalonia.
The Corpus Christi celebrations fill streets and squares with floral carpets, giants, and the traditional Dancing Egg (Ou com Balla), a centuries-old expression of ephemeral art and devotion. In towns like Sitges, Arbúcies or La Garriga, the Enramades transform urban spaces into large-scale collective artworks made of petals, leaves, and shared creativity. In Berga, La Patum —a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage— explodes with fire, music, and emblematic figures that make the whole city vibrate. It's a truly unique celebration, lived with intensity and pride by all who take part.
On the night of June 23rd, Sant Joan (St. John's Eve) brings the magic of the summer solstice with bonfires, fireworks, and street parties. The Flame of Canigó lights hundreds of fires across the region, symbolizing light, renewal, and community spirit. And of course, the traditional coca de Sant Joan adds a sweet touch to this night of joy and wonder.
The month ends with the festivities of Sant Pere and Sant Pau on June 29th, especially vibrant in coastal towns like Cambrils, Reus or l'Hospitalet de l'Infant, where tradition and the sea come together in celebrations full of life.

July, Between Local Festivals and Open-Air Culture
July is synonymous with summer, life in the streets, and celebrations that blend tradition and festivity throughout Catalonia.
The feast of Sant Cristòfol, patron saint of drivers, fills town squares with parades and the traditional blessing of vehicles. The Virgin of Carmen, patron saint of sailors, is celebrated intensely in coastal towns with boat processions, music, and shared emotions.
On July 25th, the day of Sant Jaume (Saint James) ushers in local festivals featuring giants, human towers (castellers), dancing, and communal dinners. Additionally, the month is packed with summer festivals that combine culture, nature, and heritage—making July an ideal time to experience the most authentic side of Catalonia.

August is synonymous with major festivals, warm weather, and magical nights.
The Tears of Saint Lawrence light up the sky with shooting stars, best seen from places like Montsec or the Pyrenees. On August 15, the Feast of the Assumption fills towns with religious and popular celebrations.
The Gràcia Festival in Barcelona, from August 15 to 21, transforms the streets with color, creativity, and community spirit. The festivities of Saint Roch, around August 16, keep centuries-old traditions alive in Barcelona and other Catalan towns.
In Tarragona, on August 19, Saint Magí is celebrated with processions, castells, and the traditional walk carrying miraculous water. On August 24, Saint Bartholomew brings celebrations to towns like Sitges, where maritime folklore, dancing, and fireworks take center stage.

September, between Memory and Celebration
September is a month of transition in Catalonia: summer bids farewell, but the festivities continue with strength.
On September 11th, the National Day fills towns and cities with cultural and popular events that celebrate Catalan identity. A few days later, Sant Sadurní d'Anoia comes alive with the Phylloxera Festival, with fire, music, and collective creativity. The month culminates with the Festes de la Mercè in Barcelona, one of the largest and most emblematic celebrations, transforming the city into a stage of culture and vitality. Saint Cosmas, Saint Damian, and Saint Michael are also celebrated, patrons who keep major festivals and popular devotion alive throughout the territory.
At the same time, gastronomy takes center stage with the "Cim i Tomba" cuisine in Tossa de Mar, a seafaring tradition full of flavor.
