Amer

Amer is a municipality located in a small valley north of the region of La Selva, playing Garrotxa by Gironès North and the East. It consists of different entities: Amer, St. Bridget Coast, Grup Solivent, Lloret Salvatge, Palou, Sant Climent d'Amer, Sant Genis, Veïnat of Jonquera, Colomer and Veïnat Veïnat Mont.

Amer The village has been built around the medieval monastery and the ways they communicated with Girona and Olot . His appearance is completely medieval, starting Plaça de la Vila, square and all with porches. This square is the site of the only spiral Sardana danced all Catalan Countries. They dance on August 16 and is called the Sardana's Batlle. A part of this place, the people of Amer has other buildings worth visiting such as the Casa de l'Abat (Can Boles), Mont and Can Can Gasull at the Monastery or Can Gultresa in Plaça de la Vila.

As regards religious buildings we find the church of Santa Maria, originally Romanesque, but within the municipality are also monumental buildings such as the Tower of Rocasalva or Sant Climent. Also recently recovered carrilet route running from Girona to Olot . On this route, Amer was the third stop more importance, after the two mentioned above, and today you can find buildings restored for tourist use in the middle of the greenway.

In and around the town of Amer, but within the municipality, find the hermitage of Santa Brigida. Beside it is St. Bridget school that specializes in climbing. That's why, that for more than forty years, climbers and fans, also paragliding, visit. Nearby is a place where you can practice paragliding and climbing.
