Livestock weekend in Setcases
The cattle weekend returns to Setcases!
Go up to salt the cattle in La Balmeta, sign up for the milking contest, dance country, enjoy the tractor gymkhana, play with giant games and stroll through the artisan market!
Giving salt to cattle is a common practice among all high mountain farmers. The Setcases City Council wants to protect this traditional festival by spreading it and turning it into a popular festival. As has happened in previous years, the Balmeta pass will host cows, mares and sheep to celebrate the festival that thus recovers this old tradition.
Since the 1990s, this traditional festival has been conceived as an important tourist attraction and a day of brotherhood.
The event is very attractive for the local inhabitants and also for the many visitors who want to experience this ancient work of Setcases farmers up close and even participate actively.
The festive atmosphere of the celebration, together with the feeling of helping to preserve traditions, motivates more and more people to come. It is an ideal day to enjoy the beauty of the landscape and the nature that surrounds us, as well as to interact directly with the livestock animals.
