National Day of Catalonia in Vilademuls
Vilademuls celebrates the National Day of Catalonia with various activities and great popular food!
This date commemorates the fall of Barcelona during the War of the Spanish Succession in 1714, when Bourbon forces defeated Catalan forces defending their autonomy and institutions. This defeat culminated in the loss of autonomy and the abolition of Catalan institutions, including their charters and laws.
The date has become a day of defense of rights and freedoms. Likewise, September 11th has become a rallying cry for Catalonia's unique identity.
