Festival of San Juan in Valls
Valls will welcome summer with one of the most iconic festivals on the Catalan calendar: the Festa Major de San Juan!
The celebration will maintain its traditional and symbolic core, with a program notable for its variety of activities, the participation of festival committees, and a diverse musical offering designed for all audiences.
One of the highlights of the festival will be the final dance of the current Àliga de Valls, designed by Anton Gurí, who will bid farewell to the city in an emotionally charged ceremony. This farewell will usher in a new era that will culminate with the presentation of the new figure, faithful to the original historical design.
The festival will also feature a strong presence of children's and family events, including the anniversary of the Mulassa Petita, celebrated with a special parade featuring other invited muletas. Other activities for the little ones include musical performances, interactive installations, and various workshops, in addition to the participation of local companies such as Passabarret.
At the institutional and symbolic level, the proclamation of the new Santjoaners this year will include prominent figures from the city's cultural and sporting world. The career of the pioneering grallers associated with the Xiquets de Valls will also be highlighted, with collective recognition for their key role in preserving popular musical heritage.
The festival will feature a broad representation of the ceremonial procession, with spoken dances, the Moixiganga, and dances and groups that are part of the Valles' popular imagination. The Plaza del Blat will once again become the main stage for human tower performances and the most emblematic rituals such as the departure of the Àliga, the Tronada, the Flama del Canigó, and the eagerly awaited human tower day.
Don't miss it!
