Altura Dogs Competition of the Vall de Ribes
The Ribes de Freser Municipal Sports Field hosts one of the most anticipated events in the town, the Vall de Ribes Atura Dog Contest.
It should be remembered that in 1948 the first skill contest with a stopdog was held in the Catalan Countries in the municipality of Ribes de Freser, promoted by the Breeders' Guild and by the Ribes de Freser Town Hall and seven years later Valentí Perpinyà exported it. to Oñate (Guipúzcoa) where it has continued to be celebrated ever since.
The Vall de Ribes Shepherd Dog Contest Association aims to achieve a more prestigious competition by turning it into a leading cultural, tourist, leisure and social event in Catalonia for an entire weekend.
For this reason, different complementary activities are organized to disseminate the philosophy of the contest and the importance of its respective league, publicize grazing and the products produced by the sheep, promote the breed of the Catalan dog. keep alive a very festive tradition.
