Pure speed on skis in Grau Roig!

Extreme speed on skis reaches one more year in Grandvalira. The Riberal track, located in the Grau Roig sector, will be the scene of two events of the 2024 Launched Kilometer World Cup.

In the competition, organized by the International Ski Federation (FIS), the best world specialists, male and female, in the specialty take part.

In addition to the fight for victory in the event, the athletes always have in mind the challenge of breaking the track speed record, which was established by the Swiss Philippe May in 2017, with 199.56 km/h.

The test venue, the Riberal track, 900 m long and 200 m uneven, has a starting tower and has a maximum slope of 74% and a braking zone of 450 m.

The current holder of the world speed record with skis on his feet is the Frenchman Simon Billy, with 255.5 km/h, which he achieved at last year's World Championships in Vars (France). The previous mark was held by the Italian Ivan Origone (254.958 km/h), since 2016. In the women's category, the record is still in the possession of the also Italian Valentina Greggio, with 247.083 km/h, which she achieved in 2016.
