Caramellas in Sant Salvador de Guardiola and Salelles
Experience the Caramelles in Sant Salvador de Guardiola and Salelles!
The Caramelles are a deeply rooted tradition in Catalonia that celebrates the arrival of spring and Easter through folk songs and dances. In Sant Salvador de Guardiola and Salelles , this festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm thanks to two main groups: the Aleación de los Quintos de Sant Salvador de Guardiola and the Aleación del Vi Bo de Salelles.
The Aleación de los Quintos begins its performances on Easter Saturday afternoon, visiting various suburbs and farmhouses in the municipality. Its performances continue on Sunday morning, culminating with a joint meeting with the Aleación del Vi Bo at the Church of Sant Salvador de Guardiola, where both groups sing and dance together, followed by a fellowship meal.
For its part, the Aleación del Vi Bo de Salelles, known for its long history, begins its singing on Saturday afternoon, visiting several houses in the outskirts and ending in the center of Salelles. The "caramellaires" wear white shirts, red bow ties, and barretinas, and carry an ornate basket to collect donations.
This celebration not only keeps a significant cultural tradition alive, but also strengthens community ties, allowing people of all ages to participate in preserving local heritage.
We look forward to seeing you!
