Sant Salvador de Guardiola

The municipality has two old towns, Guardiola and Salelles, housing estates and a scattered population. We are located in Bages, at the foot of Montserrat Mountain, near Manresa, Bruc, and Castellfollit del Boix. In the 10th century, there was a defensive structure, the castle, which acted as a guard, hence the name of the town and the municipality.

Salelles was a town burned in the summer of 1713, and its Romanesque church, San Sadurní de Salelles, displays the altarpiece of the Virgin of the Rosary, dated between 1621 and ca. 1634, one of the best preserved in Bages (open to visitors). Another notable church is the pre-Romanesque hermitage of San Pedro del Brunet, dating from the 10th century, restored and well preserved (not open to visitors).

San Salvador de Guardiola has a long winemaking tradition and is part of the Pla de Bages Designation of Origin. The Salelles cooperative winery was founded in 1926 by industry entrepreneurs, and our region produces Fargas-Fargas and Urpina wines. Places of interest

Church of Sant Salvador

Built in the 17th century, this parish church has a rectangular floor plan with a main nave and side chapels. The simple façade includes a porticoed gallery characteristic of Catalan architecture.

Guardiola Castle

Located on Can Miralda Hill, this medieval castle dates back to the 10th century. Now in ruins, it offers a historical insight into the defensive architecture of the period and panoramic views of the surrounding area.

Chapel of the Virgin of Grace

This 16th-century Gothic chapel is located near Guardiola Castle. It is notable for its gabled porch and inscribed stone frieze.

Sant Pere del Brunet

A 10th-century pre-Romanesque church that preserves the sanctuary, a horseshoe triumphal arch, and a trapezoidal apse. It was expanded in the 11th century with a barrel-vaulted nave.

Obac Mountains

Mountain located between the regions of Bages and Vallès Occidental, it is part of the Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac Natural Park. It offers hiking trails with spectacular views and rich biodiversity.

Natural sources

The municipality has several natural springs, such as Fuente de Arriba, located near the Graell stream. These springs are ideal for excursions and picnics in natural surroundings.
