Major Festivities of Santa Magdalena in Arnes

The festival of the oxen, in Arnes, is one of the differential and particular features that give a different nuance to the program of festivals compared to the rest of the towns of Terra Alta -except Horta de Sant Joan, which also celebrates them-.

Generally, the 21st is the day before and rockets are launched, the bells ring and the proclamation of festivities is made.

The next day, the 22nd, is the festivity of the main Patron Saint of the town, Sta Maria Magdalena, and it is the main day of the festivity. There is Mass and a procession through the streets of the town with the image of the Saint.

On the 23rd, the feast of the co-patronic guardian angels of the town is celebrated. There is also religious celebration.

As for the program, although there is always some variation, it has a fairly uniform structure: a day dedicated to the little ones with a playground, hot chocolate, a foam party, a clown performance...

A day designed more for older people, highlighting the dance of jotas and ballroom dances. There are also concerts and dances at night enlivened by orchestras.

One night correfocs are organized, which is a benchmark for the neighbors and attracts people from the surrounding towns. During the different days guiñote contests, football, bowling, foosball are organized.

One of the main attractions of the festival is the organization of two days of correbous, which never coincide with the day of Santa Magdalena. For this, a square is improvised with the trailers of the tractors.
