Corpus in the Garriga

Flowers, tradition and popular culture will once again take to the streets to fully celebrate Corpus de la Garriga!

The Corpus de la Garriga, declared a Traditional Festive Element of National Interest, is a festival recognized everywhere.

During Corpus Christi day, around 30 floral carpets are made, where 240,000 carnations are displayed, accompanied by other types of flowers and plant elements (particularly carnations, cypress, heather, pine soil and rice 'esclòfia').

In addition to the carpets, two flower altars, a mural and the now traditional 'Ou com balla' are made. The carpets are made from early in the morning and, throughout the day, the visiting public can stroll through the streets and admire the floral designs. Entities, schools and neighbors of all ages are in charge of making the rugs with the collaboration of everyone who wants to participate.

Corpus Christi Day also has many complementary activities such as concerts, castellers, dances, exhibitions and a window display contest, among other cultural proposals.

The Diada is also a golden opportunity to get to know the municipality, its heritage and its most emblematic elements. For this reason, open doors are organized throughout the day to spaces such as the Air Raid Shelter, the modernist houses of Can Raspall and Casa Barbey, the Roman villa of Can Terrers or the Doma monumental complex.
