Festival 42 - Barcelona Fantasy Festival
The 42nd Barcelona Fantasy Festival celebrates its fifth anniversary from November 5th to 9th at the Fabra i Coats. This year is especially significant, as it coincides with several important anniversaries in the world of fantasy. These include the centenary of Barcelona-born Ana María Matute, who will have an exhibition in the city's libraries; the 40th anniversary of the Gigamesh bookstore, considered the oldest bookstore of the genre in Southern Europe; and the 20th anniversary of the death of Jesús Moncada, author of the submerged worlds of Torrelloba and Mequinenza. We will also remember the loss of Rosa Fabregat.
Festival 42 has gained growing popularity in the city, and this year's edition will feature a selection of renowned guests. Among them are V.E. Schwab, one of the most widely read fantasy authors today; Joan Lluís Lluís, who will present his latest novel, "A Song of Rain"; Alberto Chimal, winner of the International FILEM Award and Mexico's National Short Story Prize; and Stella Tack, one of Germany's most popular authors. This diversity of voices promises to enrich the festival and offer a unique experience for attendees.
One of the attractions of Festival 42 is its literary offerings. The Fabra i Coats lobby will be filled with books throughout the five-day festival. The La Independent bookstore in El Raval will tempt attendees with a stall filled with the best fantasy literature. In addition, participating authors will sign copies of their works at the end of the events.
In addition to new releases, visitors can also discover used genre books at the Second-Hand Booksellers' Guild of Catalonia stall, located in the Fabra i Coats lobby. This is a unique opportunity to purchase works that might not be easily found in other bookstores.
Festival 42 is not only a space for literature, but also a meeting point for all lovers of fantasy genres. With a varied program and activities for all tastes, it's a must-attend event for those who wish to explore imaginary worlds and defend the rights of the community. Don't miss this opportunity to celebrate literature and creativity in a festive and welcoming atmosphere.
