In one of the most emotional and deeply rooted Christmas atmospheres in Catalonia, the Living Nativity Scene of Corbera de Llobregat invites you to immerse yourself in a scene of light and tradition that combines memory, collective collaboration and pure theatricality.

Since 1962, in the municipality of Corbera de Llobregat (Baix Llobregat), the first notes of Christmas take shape in living forms, more than 200 actors, natural settings, the well-known Penya del Corb, and a route of about seven hundred meters inside the nativity scene, close to the public and permeates.

A nativity scene that you experience and walk through

What makes this performance truly unique is the fact that you walk through the manger. You are no longer simply a spectator in front of the facade: you become part of the scene, walking along the open-air circuit, among characters who play, work, or celebrate beside you.

The chosen setting, the Penya del Corb, with more than 14,000 m² of natural scenery, reddish rock, vegetation and paths that unfold as if welcomed into the heart of Christmas, creates a picture that is hard to forget.

During the tour, scenes as diverse as the Annunciation of the Angel to the Virgin Mary, the arrival of the Three Wise Men, the world of shepherds, but also Catalan customs such as making the Tió defecate, spinners, washerwomen, ancient trades and markets that transport the visitor to a postcard of tradition and surprise.

The story of a compromising party

It was in 1962 that the first edition of this event was conceived by Josep Rodrigo i Puig and has continued, every year, with the passion of the people of Corbera.

It is recognized by the Generalitat of Catalonia as a festive manifestation of great heritage value: it is considered the first living nativity scene in Catalonia that allows visitors to walk among the living figures.

The promoting association, the Living Nativity Scene Association Friends of Corbera (also referred to as Friends of Corbera), is able to mobilize more than 200 volunteers of all generations, who year after year bring this Christmas scene to life.

Why can't you miss it?

Community participation. The nativity scene is not just a spectacle to behold, but a village festival. With hundreds of volunteers involved, the experience is lived from within, and the involvement of the entire community is palpable.

Exceptional location. Situated in a wide and well-defined natural environment, the Penya del Corb becomes the setting for a story that walks between tradition and open space.

Experiential itinerary. Instead of sitting, visitors move around, have the opportunity to stop, observe, listen, and even participate - at times the tradition is experienced interactively.

Tradition and contemporary style. Despite being rooted in the past, in the art of the living nativity scene and the theatrical culture of Catalonia, the performance adapts to the demands of today: with online ticket sales, an organized structure, and adaptations for families and groups.

Visiting the Living Nativity Scene in Corbera is to immerse yourself in an experience that blends folk theater, landscape, tradition, and community. It's not just about attending a show: it's about being a part of it, understanding the connection between the Nativity Scene and Catalonia, between history and collective participation. If you're looking for a charming Christmas activity with deep roots and heartfelt quality, this Living Nativity Scene offers all this and more.
