Forest optics at CaixaForum
In the Vertical Forest, the plants are no longer at our feet, but in front of us. This change in position offers us the opportunity to experiment with other points of view, to play with perspectives and ways of seeing different from the human one. Therefore, in the workshop, we will try out new ways of relating to other living beings and discover how the world is seen through other eyes. What if those eyes were those of an insect? How would it see us?
The activity will take place in front of the Vertical Forest, a 535-square-meter space that houses a dozen large trees and nearly 20,000 plants of more than one hundred different species. A unique space where nature and art become inseparable elements.
An activity designed by Paula Bruna, an environmental scientist and artist, who uses artistic research as a form of knowledge that combines various disciplines. She discusses the formation of the Anthropocene narrative from a non-human perspective, through a combination of science, fiction, and art. Her hypothesis is that exploring different points of view impacts ecological awareness and opens up the range of possible forms of coexistence. She shares her research in publications, conferences, participatory workshops, residencies, and art exhibitions: Arts Santa Mònica, SWAB Barcelona Art Fair, and Kunstraum Lakeside, En Residencia. She has also worked at the Barcelona and La Escocesa high schools, among others.
Recommended activity for boys and girls ages 4 and up.
