Museu del Torró i la Xocolata Vicens Barcelona
In the heart of Barcelona's Rambla, inside a historic 1910 building, lies a sweet and surprising experience: the Torrons Vicens Nougat and Chocolate Museum. The space is not only a tribute to Catalan gastronomic culture but also a living example of how a family business has transformed tradition into a modern and universal proposal.
An emblematic 370 m² space with tasting area and workshop
The museum is located inside the Torrons Vicens store at number 134 of La Rambla, and from the very first moment it becomes clear that this is not an ordinary shop. The space is bright, open, and full of details evoking the past. An internal staircase connects the commercial area directly with the museum, creating a seamless link between the pleasure of shopping and the joy of discovery.
With 370 m² of exhibition space, the museum is designed to be educational, immersive, and sensory. It also includes an exclusive tasting area, where visitors can sample unique flavors and limited editions of nougat and chocolate.
The nougat revolution: from 1775 to the present day
One of the museum's central sections tells the story of the nougat revolution in Agramunt, which began when Àngel Velasco Pérez acquired Torrons Vicens in 2000. Thanks to his vision and determination, a company founded in 1775 became a benchmark for nougat in Catalonia and Spain, breaking with the seasonality of the product and positioning it as a dessert for year-round enjoyment.
This success is no coincidence: it is the result of a perfect combination of tradition, innovation, and quality — the three pillars of the brand. The museum explains how new flavors and formats have been developed, as well as collaborations with top chefs such as Albert Adrià and José Andrés, which have elevated nougat to new creative heights.
An immersive experience with cutting-edge technology
The museum is not just for looking and reading. It's a fully immersive and technological experience, featuring:
- 3D projections
- Holograms
- Video mapping
- An immersive room that transports visitors to the nougat-making past
These technologies help visitors understand, in an engaging and visual way, the history of Torrons Vicens, its evolution, and the importance of Agramunt in the world of nougat.
The story of Jolonch Chocolate: a living legend
Another highlight of the visit is the section dedicated to the history of Xocolata Jolonch, one of the oldest chocolate brands in Europe (founded in 1770) and now owned by Torrons Vicens. To this day, it is still produced according to the original recipe, using top-quality ingredients.
A special room recreates an early 20th-century chocolate shop, complete with wooden modernist-style windows projecting images of old Barcelona. The period furniture is remarkable, including a replica of a 300-year-old wooden fridge, and visitors can watch how an original mill was used to grind chocolate, with holograms that bring to life an 18th-century factory.
Gastronomy, culture, and shared emotion
The Nougat and Chocolate Museum seeks not only to teach but also to move and delight. The message is clear: chocolate and nougat are much more than sweets — they are part of collective memory, of celebrations, of family gatherings. They are symbols of culture and identity.
Visitors don't just learn — they also taste and experience. The tour ends with a tasting of unique flavors that highlights the quality and creativity of Vicens products.
Come and discover it!
