Holidaymakers and Modernism in Hostalets de Pierola

The route transports us to the Hostalets from the beginning of the 20th century, and reveals the history of the buildings that the bourgeois, Africans and Americans made for the population. The vacationers came hand in hand with modernism, looking for clean and renewed airs, nature and enjoyment.

The modernist style houses and towers that we will see come from a bourgeoisie that prices the values of nature. Thus, hunting, fountains and the cultivation of the vineyard took a prominent role among the activities to be carried out among the population.

Imitating a 20th century summer afternoon, the itinerary takes us to the Ocata fountain, a meeting point where we can go for a picnic, stretch our legs and lie close to nature. On the way, we contemplate Montserrat, majestic, despite the distance. The clayey environment is home to vine and olive crops, and hides, among the pine and holm oak forests, wild boar, hare and partridge.
