From 01/08/2025 to 09/08/2025
La Seu d'Urgell (Claustre de la Catedral de la Seu d'Urgell)

The Retaaule de Sant Ermengol is a theatrical show that has been performed since 1957, during the first fortnight of the month of August, in the cloister of the Seu d'Urgell cathedral.

With text by Esteve Albert i Corp, the work depicts, in several scenes, the most important moments in the life of Saint Ermengol, Bishop of Urgell between 1010 and 1035 and patron saint of the city. The show combines Baroque music, Gregorian chant, and live narration to recreate episodes such as his episcopal consecration, the reform of the canon law, the miracle of the blind peasant, and his tragic death on the bridge of Bar.

The actors and technicians of this show are about a hundred volunteers who stage in different scenes, some episodes from the life of Sant Ermengol, the bishop of La Seu d'Urgell from the year 1010 to 1035 and a character from the history of Catalonia during the 11th century.

Don't miss it!
