Ritmiks, Festival of Young European Musicians in Valls

For the first time, Valls will host one of the concerts of the European Young Musicians Festival, Ritmiks, which is celebrating its 15th edition this year. More than 150 students from Catalonia and Europe will perform, hosted by the Robert Gerhard Municipal Music School. The festival will also feature the Cobla and Jazzband of the Catalan Association of Music Schools, two Catalan groups formed specifically for this event, as well as the European groups Jazz Focus Big Band from Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Big Band from Bolzano (Italy).

The Robert Gerhard School will have a special role to play with the premiere of the work Avancem, written for the occasion by Professor Josep Boada, and a concert by the five music groups. Ritmiks, the Festival of Young European Musicians, will bring together more than 4,000 young people from 200 musical groups and music school orchestras from eighteen countries across the continent from May 29 to June 1. During the four-day festival, 300 concerts will be held in more than 50 venues in 40 towns across Catalonia.

The Catalan Association of Music Schools (ACEM), organizer of Ritmiks, is committed to uniting music and rhythms with values such as sustainability, feminism, the social and solidarity economy, and local commerce, among others. Ritmiks aims to demonstrate that culture created by music schools can be both high-quality and transformative. Each year, the festival tours a European country, and for the second time in its history, it will stop in Catalonia in 2025.
