Tagamanent

The hill of Tagamanent, that "very high peak and difficult to access", as it was said in the 19th century, is the best known point of an eminently mountainous municipality, with rugged orography and, in some places, rough. This wide space was formerly divided between two parishes and a castle, which were the basic frameworks that frame the life of local populations from the 10th and 11th centuries.

The great extension of the term, almost coinciding with the entire western sector of Montseny, explains that it was the scene of episodes of the main historical periods of Catalonia and that, today, Tagamanent has an abundant and rich heritage: traces of the first prehistoric settlers, medieval churches and chapels, large farmhouses and old roads traveled for hundreds and, in some cases, more than a thousand years; flour mills and ice wells; fields and cultivation terraces scattered throughout the mountain, etc.

The fact that a good part of the municipality today belongs to the Montseny Natural Park means that the historical heritage is also found in an exceptional environment rich in flora, fauna and landscape.

Florid villas

Tagamanent is one of the municipalities that participates in the Villas Floridas project, an initiative of the Confederation of Ornamental Horticulture of Catalonia (CHOC) that shows and values the natural and landscape wealth through landscaping projects, floral ornamentation and urban green culture.
