Festival of San Juan in Montblanc

Formerly, the night of the eve of San Juan, the residents of Montblanc would go up to the hermitage of San Juan to meet and celebrate the festival all together. The lighting of the bonfire was the signal for the rest of the bonfires in the towns.

While in the hermitage the festival was held around the fire, in the towns the neighbors gathered for a dinner where the cake, the mistela and the rockets gave way to a long night of revelry.

In recent years the Hermits of San Juan de la Montaña have been the new promoters of this festival. During the wake they light the bonfire and offer a dinner to the assistants. The day in the hermitage begins with a service followed by a popular breakfast. Throughout the morning the dance of sticks, the Torraires and a dance of sardanas are concentrated.

On the other hand, the Club Atlético Montblanc organizes a race to climb and walk in the hermitage. The party ends with the change of the flag of the viewpoint.
