World Theater Day

The World Theater Day was created in 1961 on the initiative of the International Theater Institute (ITI), however, its first official celebration was on March 27 of the following year.

The International Theater Institute is the largest arts organization in the world. It was created in 1948 by artists, theatrical experts and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ( Unesco, for its acronym in English). The ITI is currently a non-profit organization.

In commemoration of World Theater Day, professionals, organizations and theatrical centers, as well as performing arts schools, pay homage to this form of expression.

They also seek to make governments and institutions aware of the value of this art for citizenship.
