From June 13th to 15th, Alt Urgell becomes the ideal setting for a unique experience where nature, culture, and connection with the environment come together. The fifth edition of the Camina Pirineus Hiking Festival offers much more than hiking trails; it's an initiative that invites you to disconnect from your routine and reconnect with the earth, your body, and your senses.
The hiking festival, part of the Camina Pirineus festival network, has built its own identity centered on the profound experience of the region. Year after year, it has grown in both participation and the quality of its offerings, and this year, 2025, it arrives with a program that promises to thrill both mountain lovers and those seeking a transformative experience.
A living nature, felt and observed
The soul of the festival is nature, but not merely as a backdrop: here, it's a place to experience it with all your senses. The planned activities include guided walks that emphasize observation and interpretation of the landscape, with special attention to natural phenomena such as bird migrations.
Through binoculars and the expert guidance of guides, participants will enjoy the graceful and silent passage of birds crossing the Pyrenean skies and understand the ecological importance of these migratory routes.
But contemplation isn't the only way to connect with nature. More active experiences are also offered, such as the ascent to Salòria Peak, one of the region's most iconic mountains. The outing will combine physical challenge with the art of capturing beauty: a landscape photography workshop will be offered, allowing you to immortalize the spectacular nature of the peak and its surroundings.
Heritage and culture that walk with you
One of the great strengths of the Camina Pirineus Hiking Festival is that it's not limited to mountain hikes: it also offers a walk through the history and culture of Alt Urgell. Each outing includes visits to heritage sites in the area, such as Romanesque chapels, charming villages, or the remains of ancient buildings that reveal the lives of the people who have inhabited these valleys over the centuries.
The approach highlights an often-unknown heritage, which is experienced when you walk the paths that connect it. It's a way of telling the story of the region from within, allowing the landscape itself to tell the stories of the past and present.
An inclusive proposal: walking with everyone
One of the highlights of this edition is the inclusive outing with the El Picot Social Club, which invites everyone, regardless of their background, to experience nature to the fullest. This special activity offers a guide to the senses, a walk in which touch, hearing, smell, and intuition are more important than speed or distance.
The outing is enriched with a nature yoga workshop, led by Adriana Silva of Yoga Hari, who will help participants ground themselves in the land through their bodies and breath. It's a way to become aware of the present moment, the space we occupy, and the connection we can establish with the natural world when we inhabit it with calm and respect.
Why can't you miss it?
Participating in the Camina Pirineus Festival isn't just about hiking in the mountains. It's much more. It's an invitation to experience the Alt Urgell region slowly, deeply, and respectfully. It's an opportunity to discover spectacular places you may not have known about, to learn from experts who help you see things with new eyes, and to share with others a shared passion for nature and heritage.
Furthermore, the festival is designed to be accessible to everyone: from families with children to people with disabilities, from experienced hikers to beginners. The activities are varied and tailored to different levels, always with a strong experiential and educational component.
